With a background in Electrical Engineering and Stage Lighting, Damien Beebe is a South African-Australian cinematographer with 30+ years of experience in film and TV, and a passion for lighting and visual storytelling.

He is best known for his work on the Australian feature films Aiyai: Wrathful Soul (2019), directed by Alan Arumugam, which has amassed 17 awards for excellence in filmmaking, and for the Australian thriller Black Water Abyss (2019), directed by Andrew Traucki.

His first feature as a DP was the Australian war drama William Kelly’s War (2013), shot in Melbourne, a beautiful and heartfelt story that was accomplished on an ambitiously small budget. A short film shot for the Australian-Korean director Kai Chen led to a lasting collaboration with the most recent feature films being Yan’an (Borderliners) (2018) and Closet (2020), both shot in Korea and China.

He has worked extensively with his brother Dion Beebe on productions like Nine (2009) as operator and second unit DOP, and continued to return to work on more feature films directed by Rob Marshall: Into the Woods (2014), Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and the highly anticipated live action Little Mermaid (2021). Other well known films include Doug Liman’s Edge of Tomorrow (2014) starring Tom Cruise and director Michael Bay’s feature 13 Hours (2016) shot in Malta.
