Helen O’Loan APDG is a Production Designer & Art Director working across film, television, and commercial projects.
She has been nominated for two 2025 APDG awards for her work on the global Netflix hit Mother of the Bride (dir. Mark Waters), which reached over 77 million views in its first two months, and the internationally distributed Black Snow (Goalpost Pictures, STAN), for which Helen also received an AACTA nomination for Best Production Design.
Other recent credits include the International Emmy nominated Deadloch (writers Kate McCartney & Kate McLennan / dir. Beck Cole & Gracie Otto), and Audrey (dir. Natalie Bailey) — ‘a deliciously snarky film about a girl in a coma that explores a thorny taboo with sharp gallows humour’. Premiering at SXSW 2024 and screened at BFI London Film Festival & MIFF, Audrey is now streaming on Netflix, with Helen’s work praised for contributing to the film’s bittersweet, dark and complex narrative.
Helen’s practice was shaped by Oscar, BAFTA, and AACTA-winning art departments on The Great Gatsby, Unbroken, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Chronicles of Narnia, Peter Rabbit and her training – at AFTRS with an MA in Production Design – informs her approach to crafting nuanced spaces that support narrative and theme. She also has extensive commercial experience, including the Nike/FIFA Brazil Joga Sempre campaign. She is an accredited member of the APDG.
