Nick Paton ACS is a cinematographer based in Brisbane, Australia. His love of a great story has lead him to focus on documentary and drama.

Call him a cinematographer, DP, DOP, Director of photography, Nick’s pragmatic approach to challenges, his good humour, energy and his storytelling skills impress. Nick believes in close collaboration with directors and enjoys the look development process where the exchange of ideas between cinematographer and director reimagines the script to create appropriate, engaging imagery that drives the story.

Nick believes his ability to understand story intimately, visualise it photographically and implement it economically are his strengths. Recent collaboration can be see in Nick’s work with director Kriv Stenders’ – ‘The Black Hand’ and ‘Joh: The Last King of Queensland’.

Nick has won many awards for his work and has been recognised with accreditation by the Australian Cinematographers Society. He continues to enjoy long-standing creative relationships with collaborators from both Australia and overseas. He has shot extensively in Australia and around the world and is available for engagements locally (Brisbane), nationally and internationally.
